1/3 cup Farafena Fonio Grain
1 cup vegetable or chicken broth
½ teaspoon salt, or to taste
Heat a medium frying pan over medium high heat (no oil).
Add fonio and stir until it begins smoking and just begins to change colour and develop a nutty aroma.
Add broth slowly and stir into hot grain (liquid will bubble up and boil). Add salt.
Keep stirring until the water disappears.
Fonio Grain will absorb broth and begin to fluff up. Stir for another 5 minutes.
Remove from element/burner and cover with lid.
Set aside for 5 minutes.
Remove lid and stir the Fonio with a fork.
Fonio is ready to use in salads or side dish.
