A New Beginning

Farafena’s partners, the women farmers of Mali and Malawi, are also the primary growers of Moringa, Baobab and Fonio. We know first-hand how these women – our mothers, sisters, daughters, aunts and grandmothers – work endless days to grow food for their families and villages, earning subsistence wages for the crops they would bring to market. We know their struggles. They too, are woven into the story of Africa.

What we saw was a way to better the lives of these hard-working farmers, their families and the villages they lived in. Today, Farafena collaborates on the ground with more than 850 women from over 9 villages in a social enterprise to grow, harvest and market. Our equitable direct partnership with the women farmers of Mali helps them achieve financial independence, and helps us to bring healthier food options to the rest of the world. A feel-good story if ever there was one.
