Tastes Good. Does Good.
Farafena was created by a family that gives back to the communities around it and understands the power of good food, strong values and social empowerment.
Our founder, Oumar, was raised in Mali by an entrepreneurial mother, running bakeries that supported employment in the village, and a father who worked all over the world as an irrigation specialist. Inspired by his mother’s empowerment of the women around her, and his father’s desire to bring water to those who needed it, Oumar is a firm believer in giving back.
Growing Healthy Communities
Our equitable direct partnerships with the women farmers of Mali and Malawi helps them achieve financial independence, which includes earnings that are well above the national average.
Making A Difference
Traditionally women farmers would walk miles into the village to sell very little product – and all processing was done by hand. Now we collect the product directly at the village level, and provide communities with equipment like threshers and de-huskers so that women farmers are able to start micro-businesses, build homes for, and spend more time with their families – improving the health and prosperity of their communities.
It is our vision to nourish the future of women and their communities, in Africa and around the world. And it is our mission is to provide healthy, nutrient-rich foods to consumers looking for products that are good for them and their families, and who seek to be part of a community that has a positive impact.
